He was educated locally and while attending school he was a classmate of the famous comedian, author, radio personality, and clown, Per Inge Torkelsen (1953-2021). He was a professional footballer who was a member of the club Norway-21 (or Norway National Under-21 Football Team), of Stavanger, Norway, which was a team of players that were twenty-one years and younger at the start of a UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship Campaign, and which was controlled by the Football Association of Norway. He played the position of Defender and made his professional debut with Viking FK (or Viking Fotballklubb), of Stavanger, Norway, during one game in 1970, and he would go onto play with them until 1976. He played in another 38 league games and 9 games during his professional football career. He also participated with club Norway-21 (or Norway National Under-21 Football Team), of Stavanger, Norway, when they won Norwegian Premier League gold medals in 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975. The team also won an Olympic Bronze Medal in 1971. He also played with club Frigg Oslo FK (Frigg Oslo Fotballklubb), of Oslo, Norway, in 1982, and club Bærum SK (or Bærum Sportsklubb), of Sandvika, Norway, in 1983. He continued to be involved with club Norway-21 (or Norway National Under-21 Football Team), of Stavanger, Norway, and be active in sports until his death.
