Patrick Craig Patey, age 64 of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on December 5, 2021 at his home.

Pat was born in Jackson, Tennessee on January 17, 1957, the first child of two and the most musically gifted, most artistically talented in writing & drawing/painting/photography of the two, including also later preeminent graphic and digital design skills...for which he was no doubt likewise the most humbly subtle son of Mary and Buddy Patey's only two "Boys", as compared to his, at the time, yet to be born only sibling and Brother. With that introduction to Pat's life, those that know the Pateys may guess who is writing this life account of his brother in order to honor Pat from distinct first hand knowledge in the way that, while humbly modest and private, Pat would no doubt nevertheless just smile and allow such latitude to his now 60 year old "Little Brother"...the grieving Author of this Obituary.

My Brother, Pat, was the most genuinely kind, understanding, non-judgmental and "always concerned for others" person that I have ever known, much less being my "Big Brother." Composing my Dad's Obituary a few months ago was a sad honor, but with Pat it takes on a responsibility that I recognize is a testament to his legacy that many may not realize and for which I was always so proud and amazed at his talents & accomplishments that he otherwise always downplayed. So, I will write like Pat about Pat in a conversational and modestly straightforward manner as was the ease of his nature and the way he communicated with such calm grace.

Patrick Craig Patey was born during a post WW2 and Korean War period that offered a pause in our Country and Region that was idyllic in many ways during his early to mid childhood before the height of the Vietnam War and tumultuous times, and this weaved a traditional and wholesome philosophy into his later adult interactions, and folks and friends really enjoyed that about Pat. You always felt that time almost stood still when engaging with Pat in his storytelling and mutual laughter. Although he was extremely "tech savvy" and always remained relevant in our current Digital Age, Pat would still write letters or cards and call people up to check on them, offering kind words and an incredible "listening ear".

Pat attended the public schools of Jackson TN, and graduated from Jackson Central Merry High School in 1975 with much longer hair than in his later Professional Career, and for those that remember the Iconic Coach and Principal* (*and good Friend of the Patey Family) Tom Fann, Pat did occasionally and playfully experience Tom tugging the back of Pat's locks and reminding him "Patey I think its time you got a haircut". During those High School years Pat was well known in the musical and "Rock Band" community as one of Jackson's finest Guitarist and was a band member or sat in regularly at gigs and dances. He also played the piano, bass, drums, and horns with proficient acumen. He just had a musical ear and it came natural to him, also in writing songs and local recording. Pat was also always industrious and worked during High School as a Server ("Waiter") at the legendary Skeeters Restaurant and has many friends and stories from those years with the Alexander Family. He next attended Jackson State (JSCC) on a Stage Band Scholarship and performed as a Guitarist at events for JSCC within our Community and Region. Pat then finished his academic years at Union University graduating in 1979 with a B.S. Degree in Sociology. Thereafter Pat moved to Dallas TX when one day he loaded up his car for a job search adventure that led to an entire prominent career in fundraising and Public Relations within the Non-Profit sector, first with the Boy Scouts of America Circle Ten Council as a District Executive and then moved into their PR Communications, and Media Director position wherein Pat found his vocational niche. He was later sought out by The Salvation Army DFW Metroplex Command Center as the Director of Marketing & Communication, where he thrived and became known nationally within The Salvation Army family at the top of this position for his talent and ingenuity in marketing The Salvation Army brand, purpose and ministry in all of the good work and mission of that fine International Christian organization. It was the centerpiece of his life's work, and yet he always found time for his Family and Friends.

Pat loved so many hobby's and interests that it would be too long a list to set forth, but playing Tennis was a passion including USTA League Play in Dallas, and he also from time to time played in several Contemporary Christian Bands that would perform at churches and events. In later years, as his medical issues required a more regimented lifestyle, Pat was required to focus primarily on maintaining his health and properly rounding out his illustrious Public Relations career until his full Retirement in the Fall of 2019 when he moved "back home" to Jackson TN. After 35 years in Dallas, Pat's return to his beloved local community brought such joy to not only Dad (Buddy Patey), but also to he and I as Brothers for which we looked forward to a long additional future. Notwithstanding that those full hopes were not fulfilled given Pats decline in health and untimely death from heart failure, we all in his Family and among his many Jackson & West Tennessee Friends have full hearts for the 2 years that he had returned "Home". He is now truly at his ultimate eternal Home with the Lord and our Mom and Dad.

Pat Patey, my Brother, and loyal Friend to many, as God proclaims: "Well done my good and faithful servant".

Pat (also "Uncle Pat") leaves his brother, Mark Patey and wife Carolyn of Jackson TN; his beloved niece, Madison Claire Patey Bryant and husband Austin of Nashville TN; and his beloved Nephew Hayden Tyler Patey of Memphis TN. He was so proud of Madison and Hayden!

Our Family will have a very private and beautiful graveside Funeral on Saturday 12/11/21 at Highland Memorial Gardens.
