James attended Batavia High School, class of 1988. He enjoyed playing baseball and football. He graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, then he served three years in the US Army. He began his 25-year banking career at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago. He has held numerous roles through the years including standing up their Technology Team in the APAC Region, of which he was immensely proud, and most recently, acting as the Fortify Program Lead. He was able to make complex issues simple. He was known for his calm demeanor, candor, ability to use humor to put people at ease, and his knowledge of systems, platforms, and people. James loved the Chicago Blackhawks and the Bears, and he enjoyed spending time at Parker Lake in Wisconsin. Per his friends, "He shared stories about huge fish, that he may or may not have actually caught." Throughout his lifetime, he was an avid reader. He enjoyed playing games and loved his 1970's rock music.
He is survived by his loving parents, three sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and his many beloved friends and families.
Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. At 5:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home.
