Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Nicolas Smith, 64, of Indianapolis, Ind., died November 10, 2021, at home after a year-long battle with cancer.

She was born on October 7, 1957, to Raymond Nicolas and Joan Pilewski Still in Oil City.

Betsy grew up in Clarion, attending Immaculate Conception Catholic School through eighth-grade and Clarion Area High School, graduating there in 1975.

She married Roger Wayne Smith on December 9, 1978, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Together, Betsy and Roger had two children: Rachel and Jordan.

Betsy worked for both the State of Florida and State of Indiana prior to having children, staying at home with their children for 13 years (and many interstate moves!), before returning to work for Bath & Body Works Distribution Center in Columbus, Ohio, and finally relocating to Indianapolis, Ind., in 2012, to open a small business with Roger and friends, Martin and Debbie Cain.

Betsy was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music, attending concerts, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her beautiful laugh, her strong work ethic and her compassion for others.
