Jerry Presley Stewart passed peacefully in the presence of his loving family on November 9, 2021, ending his long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Cookeville on October 2, 1949 to the late Norma Bennett Smith and Floyd Leon "Todd" Stewart.

Jerry was a devoted son, nephew, cousin, and friend. As an only child, Jerry was the absolute world to his parents and they always worked hard and sacrificed for him. Todd and Bennett moved to Michigan when Jerry was a baby to seek a better opportunity for the family. Jerry grew up in the Detroit area, and this is where his love of cars began. Jerry was a fanatic collector of MOPAR, Chrysler, and Dodge memorabilia. He shared his father's love of antique car collecting. As a child of the 60's he developed a lifelong love of music, especially the Beatles.

After graduating from Wayne State University, he journeyed back to Tennessee, returning to Cookeville near his family, and started a work career at K-Mart where he started in the electronic department. Jerry always knew about the latest TV or electronics on the market. Later, he worked his way into management and retired when his parents moved back home to Tennessee. At that point, Jerry helped his mom care for his dad. After a time, Jerry embarked on the next phase of his work life at Wal-Mart. He worked there until he needed to take care of his mother. Jerry was as devoted to his parents as they were to him.

Jerry loved to watch TV and movies and loved it when the family would join him. He loved auto racing and could be found watching NASCAR and cheering for a Dodge driver. He developed a passion for genealogy. He enjoyed sharing photos and his knowledge about his family on the internet for others to see. He spent countless hours restoring family photos to share. Jerry had a deep love of family; he loved having Sunday dinner with his grandparents. Later on, one of his favorite things was Saturday night dinner with his aunts and uncles. He was always ready to go out to eat, which led to him becoming a Local Guide for Google.

Jerry's passing will leave a void in the hearts of his family. He leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory. Especially those special Aunts that cared and watched out for "Bennett's baby" until the end.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bros. Roy and Brendan Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
