Loving and generous, Lyle Edward Baker, age 83, passed away at his residence on May 4, 2021. Lyle was born to parents, Lyle Norman and Evelyn Mae Baker on October 5, 1937. He attended Ann Arbor High. Shortly after, he was fortunate enough to meet the love of his life, Regina 'Jean' Lolmaugh, later to marry in 1958. Living in Whitmore Lake at the time, the two relocated to Ann Arbor to start their family. Lyle was known most for his "complex" personality, but never fell short of helping those who needed it most- whether family or friends. Lyle was the family "Santa," took time to go on camping trips, and was a role model to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With great pride, Lyle crafted many wooden toys, including banks, rocking horses, and many other projects. He was quite the avid collector of trains, dolls, and other collectable items. Lyle started a career as a heavy equipment operator for North Campus at the University of Michigan. He retired as the head foreman of all of North Campus Grounds. In his spare time, Lyle enjoyed watching Westerns, specifically those including John Wayne. Lyle will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Jean; children, Robin (Kenneth) Culp and Pamela (Tim) Rinesmith; grandchildren, Lyle (Bria) Culp, Crystal Starr (Isaac) Wilcox, Starr (Tim) Joseph, Kevin (Angelina) Patton, and Rachel Rinesmith, 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Cook and Deborah Szegda; brother in law, Scott Lolmaugh; and many nieces and nephews.
