Dorothy Aina (nee Ross), daughter of Willie and Odessa Ross (both now deceased), was deafened as a child due to ilness. She attended elementary, middle and high schools for the deaf in the Greater Los Angeles area, graduating from high school in 1974.

She married Jacob Aina on August 2, 1989. They were the proud parents of a son, Joseph Aina.

Sadly, her husband predeceased her in 2003.

Dorothy was a dedicated mother to her son Joe, participating in school activities such as the school's booster club. She worked for years as a keypunch operator, and later for Kohl's. She was a faithful member of the New Breeze Community Choir in Los Angeles, ministering songs via American Sign Language to churches in the area..

Besides her son Joe, her greatest passion was basketball. She was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and could tell you practically anything about them!

She was kindhearted and quiet, and remained steadfast in her duties to her son, her hobbies, and her choir ministry. She had many friends in the Southern California deaf community.

We will see you in heaven, Dorothy!
