Edward Allen Abrams, of Franklin Park passed away on Sunday, December 1st at home. He was 77

Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Somerset before moving to Franklin Park in 1966.

He worked as a Teamster for the Local #701, North Brunswick for over 40 years before retiring 5 years ago.

Ed was a member of the Riverview Street Rods in Edison and was proud of his restored 1940 Ford pickup truck. He loved antique cars, fishing, skiing, playing tennis, swimming, the outdoors and animals. Ed also loved sports, especially the NY Giants and watching NASCAR. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He also spent time as a Cub Scout Leader for Troop #100 in Franklin Park, heading trips to the Stokes Forest in Northern New Jersey.

During the Vietnam Conflict, Ed served as an Airman in the United States Air Force.

He was predeceased by his son, Gregory Allen Abrams in 1970; and his parents, Edward and Adeline Abrams.

Surviving are his wife, Jayne; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward & Sherry Abrams of Metuchen and Glenn & Melissa Abrams of Edison; daughter and son-in-law, Michele & Peter Myers of East Brunswick; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Joanne Abrams of North Brunswick; sister-in-law, Saundra Herman of Monroe; 7 grandchildren, Joseph, Samantha, Thomas, Charlotte, Morgan, Marc & Theresa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4th at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset from 4-8 PM. A Blessing will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 11 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Holy Cross Burial Park & Mausoleum, East Brunswick.
