He was born February 25, 1930, in Armstrongs Mills, Ohio, a son of the late Alton U. Goff and Violet Marie Haught Goff.
Nelson was a retired employee of Consolidated Aluminum in Hannibal, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Saner Post #228 in Powhatan Point. Nelson enjoyed fishing, car shows, and sitting on his front porch with Thomas, the neighborhood cat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Zola Goff; two sisters, Phyllis, and Florence Goff; three brothers, Edgar, Larry "Dick", and Michael Goff; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Cathy Zola.
Nelson is survived by his son, David (Cindy) Goff of St. Clairsville; two sisters, Weltha Baker of Powhatan Point and Ethel Perkins of St. Clairsville; two brothers, Roscoe (Bonnie) Goff and Douglas Goff both of Powhatan Point; and several nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, private family services will be held on Friday at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio with Adam Davis officiating. Burial will be in Powhatan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter or the Belmont County Animal Rescue League.
