Hockey player and coach. He played professional hockey from 1952 - 1963 with multiple teams including: Flin Flon Bombers, Kamloops Elks, Saskatoon-New West, Seattle Americans, New Westminster Royals, Spokane Comets, Providence Reds, Portland Buckaroos, Charlotte Checkers, New Haven Blades and the Fort Wayne Komets. Toward the end of his playing career he was also asked to serve as a coach. His professional coaching career began with the Charlotte Checkers in 1965. He won two championships back to back with the Charlotte Checkers of the Eastern Hockey League followed by a championship win with the Omaha Knights of the Central Hockey League. He then moved up to coaching for the Atlanta Flames of the National Hockey League. He spent five years coaching the Atlanta Flames and one year with the Boston Bruins. His last six years of coaching were spent in the minor leagues including two Central Hockey League (CHL) championship wins with the Indianapolis Checkers from 1981-1983. He won the CHL Jake Milford Trophy for coach of the year, twice during his career.
