Ruth A. Cann, age 82, a longtime resident of Stoneham, died Friday, September 17 at the Arnold House of Stoneham.

Born in Somerville on August 5, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Philip G. and Rose E. (Griffin) Collins.

Mrs. Cann was raised and educated in Charlestown. She had been a Stoneham resident for 55 years, having raised her family in town. She had worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Arnold House of Stoneham for many years until her retirement. Above all, she was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Cann. She was the loving mother of Thomas Hunt and his wife Lynne of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Hunt and his wife Patricia of Wakefield, Steven Hunt and his wife Laurie of Gilford, NH, Robert Cann, Jr. and his wife Linda of Pepperell, Colleen Yalcin and her husband Yusuf of Wilmington and the late Janet M. Dones and her late husband Dean and the late Paul M. Cann. She was the sister of the late Philip Collins. She was the beloved "Nan" to 12 grandchildren: Jennifer Hunt, Christopher Hunt, Amy Hickey, Savanna Hunt, Justine Hunt, Meghan Dones, Caitlin Cann, Hailey Cann, Molly Cann, Adam Yalcin, and the late Joseph Hunt and Dean Dones. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren: Timothy, Ben, Ella, Jack, Natalie, Dylan, Ethan, Alana, Zoey, Haven, Hunter, Xavier, Wyatt, Emerald, Breelyn, and Mason.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Thursday, Sept 23 10AM. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Wednesday, September 22 from 4-8PM. Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
