Francisco Valdez

February 20, 1939 - September 13, 2021

Francisco (Frank) Valdez was born on February 20, 1939 in Tampa Florida. He was the second oldest of 5 kids.

He joined the Army when he was barely 18 as an MP and as part of the 101st Airborne Division stationed in Korea and traveled to a variety of places within the US.

Frank was always a thin man and when he would jump out of planes in the military, they always had to add extra weight because he was so light.

When he got out of the Army in his early 20's he moved from Tampa Florida to Lake Tahoe and worked in the casino industry. He worked his whole career in the casinos from a dealer to a Pit Supervisor.

In Lake Tahoe he loved camping anytime he could. He would commute back and forth to work while the family hung out at the campsite most summers. He always made sure they had a few family vacations every year and always made family time a priority.

In 1984 he left Lake Tahoe to move to Las Vegas where he met his wife Leslie at the Flamingo Hilton. In 2005 they both moved to Texas where he retired and lived the last years of his life in Sherman, a town he adored to call home. Here he raised his last child and enjoyed spending his days with his family in a house he was so proud of.

Frank was a very structured man, he had a place for everything and always taught his kids to respect others and keep things very neat and tidy.

From his youngest sisters ironing his white work shirts to his children, they always needed to be pressed a certain way. He was very particular and never really left the house without a white handkerchief.

On Monday September 13th after being in the Hospital for 47 days Frank passed away to join his beautiful wife Leslie who just passed away on September 2nd.

Frank is survived by his sons Phillip, Gregory and his wife Sheryl, Bob and his wife Sharon, Josh and his fiancé Alivia, his daughter Stacy, and her husband Jerry, and two sisters Hilda and Darlene.

Frank has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews who he adored and looked forward to seeing their pictures and learning how to maneuver around Facebook.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Leslie, two of his children Lisa and Frank Jr. a sister Sally and his brother Lou (Jr)

Frank lived a long life making it to 82 and will forever be missed dearly by so many. His family will always miss their long talks, silly arguments, his teasing ways and his flipping off by rubbing his nose.

He was a man of many layers….

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, September 21 at Waldo Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Sunday, October 10 at Akers Cemetery.
