Thomas William Akins Jr., born on January 23, 1942 in Wellington, Texas to Dorthea Gray Akins and Thomas W Akins Sr., passed away from natural causes on December 4, 2017 in Pflugerville, Texas.
Tom graduated from Wellington High School in 1959. Tom joined the US Army Reserves straight upon completing high school, and moved to California, but completed his service with the Reserve National Guard of Texas.

Afterwards, he moved to Dallas, started his decades long career in the hotel industry, met the love of his life, Ann Barden Smith, graduated from the University of North Texas, and had his son, Curt. An adventurous and jovial spirit, Tom loved traveling, his family, and living life.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sisters, Cynthia Connell and Sherrye Harris, and his wife. He leaves behind many beloved family members. All who knew him will surely miss him. His services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas.
