Sarah Anne Grieb, age 86, Joplin, Mo., formerly of LaRussell, Mo., passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007. Anne was born May 14, 1921, in Troy, Ohio. She married Walter P. Grieb on Nov. 24, 1945. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1999. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served as an officer in both the LaRussell and Sarcoxie chapters. Also, she was an avid bowler for many years. Anne had worked as a secretary for Economic Security of Joplin and the Jasper County Sheriff's Department. She also worked for many years at Carthage Wal-Mart. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Stella (Stanley) Scott; her husband; and a sister, Caroline Scott. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Grieb and wife, Barbara, of Springfield, Mo., and W. Scott Grieb, of LaRussell; three daughters, Beverly Shaffer, of Joplin, Nancy Grieb, of Neosho, Mo., and Joyce Brown and husband, Gary, of Rogers, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Graveside services for Sarah Anne Grieb are 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Center Cemetery near Carthage, Mo. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Housh-Goodwin Chapel in Sarcoxie, Mo. Services are under the direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie.
