Funeral services for Jewel Martin, age 97, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2013, with Rev. Tommy Johnston officiating.

Interment will follow at Posey Cemetery with Dale Evans, Orvie Don Chapman, Paul Myford, Joe Carson, Jackie Boles, Jr. and Charles Franklin Chapman serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Jewel Martin passed away Sunday evening August 11, 2013 at Sunny Springs Nursing Home. She was born in Hopkins County on November 20, 1915, the daughter of Charles E. Chapman and Dora (McCarty) Chapman. She married L. T. "Son" Martin in Sulphur Springs on March 25, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class, the WMU Baptist Women Mission and pre-school Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include: son, Doug Martin and wife Belinda of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Greg Martin, Brad Martin, Chad Martin and Rhonda Whittle; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Arrangements are with Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
