Doyce Edna Dixon

Funeral services for Doyce Edna Dixon, 86, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, in West Oaks Funeral chapel with Dr. David Hardage officiating.

Private interment will be held with Dan Campbell, Harold Deaton, Bill Hodge, Douglas Martin, Charlie Isham and Don Deaton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Campbell, Dr. Joseph B. Longino, Elmer Moore and J.R. Ramey.

The family will be present for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, in the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Dixon died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, in Hopkins County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born in Hopkins County May 15, 1914, the daughter of William T. and Ada Rilla Tennyson Luckey.

She married Marvin “Buck” Dixon in Oklahoma on Aug. 13, 1932. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1985.

She was a retired auxiliary worker with Sulphur Springs I.S.D. retiring in 1973.

She was a member of Posey Baptist Church and of the Mildred Barksdale Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Charles Dixon of Sulphur Springs; one daughter, Greta Dixon Deaton of Sulphur Springs; one brother, W.A. Luckey of Forney; one sister, Melodies Godfrey of Cooper; two grandsons, Kevin Dixon and Damon Dixon, both of Sulphur Springs; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey Dixon and Hannah Dixon, both of Sulphur Springs.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Luckey; and three sisters, Pauline Holley, Gladine Couch and Grace Hooper.
