Actor. He was best known to film viewers as Michel Poiccard in the 1960 Jean-Luc Godard new wave classic film "Breathless." After a brief stint in boxing, he turned to acting by attending the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris, where he graduated in 1956. in 1956, he made his acting debut in the short film "Moliere." Besides "Breathless," he went on to appear in numerous films such as "A double tour," (1959) "Seven Days ... Seven Nights," (1960) "Two Women," (1961) "Pierrot le Fou," (1965) "Casino Royale," (1967) and "Itineraire d'un enfant gate." (1988) During the late 1950s, he embodied the antiheroic spirit of the French New Wave and later starred in and produced many commercially successful films that highlighted his graceful agility and easygoing charm. For his role in the film "Itineraire d'un enfant gate," he won the 1988 Cesar Award for Best Actor. He was honored during his career numerous times for his acting work. In 2001, he suffered a stroke that left him unable to work for several years. He returned to the screen in 2008 in the film "Un homme et son chien."
