Fred Lewis Worley, age 87 of Porter, IN passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born on May 3, 1934 in Winamac, IN to Frank and Katie (Foerg) Worley.
Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Worley; son, John (Gretchen) Worley; daughters, Tamara Barack, Jackie (Jim) Thomason, Kim (Fred) Benner; sisters, Frances Hamilton, Agnes Houk, Dorothy Beauchamp; grandchildren, Clint, Salina, Jennifer, Christa, Jessica, Angela, Dana, Drew, Jade; great-grandchildren, Mia, James, Kylin, Roman, Aliya, Mckenna, Kaden, Cameron, Jaxton, Gabby, Olivia, Eva, Amelia.
He was preceded in death by father, Frank Lewis Worley; mother, Katie Worley; sisters, Mary Webb, Alma McFarland; granddaughter, Lindsey Barack.
Fred was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a jack of all trades and loved to build things. He was proud to assist his son, sons-in-law, and granddaughter in building their homes. Without his experience and expertise, none of this would have been possible. Fred never met a stranger and loved to chat to anyone who would listen. Fred worked at U.S Steel in Gary for 24 years, and Midwest Steel for 11 years before retiring in 1996. He enjoyed NASCAR and bird watching. Fred will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Chesterton, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.
