Baylis Earle Anderson Jr., 86, of 514 Forest Lane, Belton, widower of Ruby Meeks Anderson, died May 25, 2002, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, hewas a son of the late Baylis Earle Sr. and Eunice Cunningham Anderson. He was aretired co-owner of Meeks Construction Company. He served as an Army Air Corp veteran during the World War II. Baylis was a member and past president of the Belton Lions Club and a member of the South Carolina Senior Golf Association. As a member of First Baptist Church of Belton, he served as deacon and was a member of the Marshall Bible Class.
Surviving are a son, Andy Anderson, and his wife, Rita, of Belton; and two grandchildren, Jenny Anderson of Anderson and Jeffrey Anderson of Belton. He was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Belton with the Rev. T. Dale Lynch and Dr. Booker Bagby officiating. Burial will follow in Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson with Military Rites.
The body is at Cox Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the residence of his son, Andy Anderson, 118 White Oak Drive, Belton.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Belton, 105 Brown Ave., Belton, SC 29627. - Cox Funeral Home, Belton.
