Aziere, Georgia Blanche

Blanche Aziere, 93, of Raytown, Mo., passed away November 24, 2007, at Hidden Lake Care Center.

Mrs. Aziere, the daughter of Frances Gibbons and Liberty Garrett Poland, was born in Sedalia, Mo., Sept. 29, 1914. She graduated from Sedalia Smith Cotton, twice won the school spelling championship, and survived a steam explosion during a dinner at the fairgrounds that killed dozens of people. She married Wilfred (Bill) Aziere in 1934 and resided in St. Francis Xavier Parish until 1955 when they moved to St. Elizabeth. Blanche is preceded in death by her parents and husband, her sister, Doris Morgenstern; her son, Jerry Aziere; and two grandsons, Gary Aziere and Bryan Aziere. She is survived by three sons, Richard and Patricia Aziere of Port St. Lucy Fla., James and Beverly Aziere of Raytown, and David and Barbra Aziere of Prairie Village; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven step great- grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with the rosary at 7 p.m. at the Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, on Tuesday. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church at 75th and Main, 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Kansas City Hospice.
