Gary Lawrence Abbate, 72, of Pearl River, NY, formerly of River Vale, NJ passed away Saturday, August 14th, 2021, after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was a devoted husband to Catherine Abbate (Rooney), loving father to Meghan Rice (husband Robert Rice) and Kaitlin Piasecki (husband Jake Piasecki), adoring grandfather to Elizabeth, Lily, and Henry, and a beloved brother to John Abbate, Thomas Abbate, William Abbate, and Susan Tramontozzi.

Gary served our country proudly in the Vietnam War with the Big Red #1 Infantry, receiving several medals including the Bronze Star. He was the Vice President of Steamfitters Local #638 and an avid Red Sox Fan.

Family will receive friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, August 18th from 4-8pm The Funeral Mass celebrating Gary's life and faith will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 19th at Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church, Harrington Park, NJ. followed by a burial service at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont NY.
