Adrienne Managan Dark Robinson went to be with her heavenly Father October 4, 2016 at the age of 89.

She was born on April 24, 1927, the daughter of Ralph and Vyra Managan. As a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, she graduated from Lake Charles High in 1944 as one of the top two honor graduates. She attended LSU and McNeese State University. In 1945 she was crowned by Governor Jimmy Davis as McNeese's first homecoming queen.

In 1946 she married Alvin Dark and began their family. She spent a large part of her young married life traveling and supporting her husband's Major League Baseball career often riding to the various cities in a station wagon with the children, her mother-in-law and the family's cocker spaniel.

Once returning to Lake Charles she became very active in her church and community. She was one of the original founders of the Lake Charles chapter of the Christian Women's Club. Along with Mike Gilchrist, she opened and managed the Christian Book Center in 1970. She taught Sunday school for many years to all ages and was a loyal supporter of many charities.

She taught Biology at Barbe High School and later went to work with her father at Krause & Managan Lumber Co. Ltd. She worked there from 1976-1993 serving as its President for many years.

Upon her retirement, she and her second husband, Dr. Roy Robinson, Jr. traveled through the United States and Canada in their motor home. Their summer home in Colorado provided many joyous vacations for her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Robinson was a beloved mother, grandmother and the spiritual rock of her family. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Robinson is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vyra Managan, first husband, Alvin Dark and her second husband, Dr. Roy Robinson, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Hays. Survivors also include her four children and their spouses: Allison and Bob Walling, Gene and Nettie Dark, Eve Carpenter and Margaret and Tim Robinson. She loved her ten grandchildren: Kipp Walling, Chris Walling, Brian Dark, Beau Dark, Jennifer Dark Moon, Aaron Carpenter, David Carpenter, Tyler Robinson, Adrienne Robinson and Lauren Pumpelly. Mrs. Robinson is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 6, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve James will officiate. Visitation Thursday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home.
