Ms. TaKisha Lenae Blackwell, 43 of 11206 Quaker Road, Dinwiddie, Virginia departed this life Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Southside Regional Bon Secours Mercy Health in Petersburg, Virginia.

A native of Dinwiddie County she was the daughter of the late Jestine Renae Blackwell and Danny O. Yates. The granddaughter of Deacon Jesse Blackwell and the late Essie Roney Blackwell the granddaughter of the late Roger and Nannie "Pearl" Yates.

Takisha loved learning and earned her degree from John Tyler Community College in Web Designer. She was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. She continued her mom's tradition of the yearly gathering and was truly a diehard Cowboys fan.

She was known and loved by everyone. She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Danny Yates of Dinwiddie, VA; two loving siblings, Tarshay LaVerne Cosely (Melvin) of Hanover, MD and Branden Yates (Jessica) Dinwiddie, VA; Four aunts, Devoted Wanda Belfield (Charles) of Richmond, VA, Polly Harris (James), Deborah Yates, Maxine Yates and Five uncles Roger G. Yates (Shirley), John Yates (Sharon), Stanley Yates (Anna), James Yates (deceased), Walter Yates (deceased) and her God Parents the late Joyce and James Wyatt of DeWitt, VA. Loving and dedicated cousins, Tare' Smith Mabry (Eric) Stony Creek, VA, Essence Johnson of Chester, VA; Saralda Roney and many other devoted cousins. Michael Staton, Jesse Staton,
Kerwin Branch, Brandon Belfield, and God brothers Keith and Kenneth Wyatt (Lorrie) of DeWitt. Taveyon "Tatabug" Dabneyof Petersburg, VA and Torrie "Todaloose" Smith of Stony Creek, VA.; nephews and nieces that she adored Branden Jr., JaydenYates, Jakale and Brionna Yates. Devoted friends Alfie Brown was one of the greatest gifts introduced by her cousin Jay Hooker and Bernard Jones. Many great aunts and uncles that
she adored and loved. There are so many that touched her heart that we could not name all. But you know who you are she wanted you all to know that she loved you all.

A homegoing service will be held on 14th of August 2021 at 3:30 p.m. at the Olive Branch Church, Dinwiddie, with the pastor, Rev. Kevin M. Northam, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 South Sycamore Street, Petersburg. (804)-863-4411.
