Selma Marie (Riebe) Dose was born on a farm near Gaylord MN, to Henry and Lillie (Raduenz) Riebe on April 28, 1930. She was so loudly announcing her arrival, that her parents made sure to baptize her right there on the farm at 3 am that morning, by the Rev John Busch. Her sponsors that early morning, were Sophie Raduenz, Louis Riebe, Ferdinand Riebe. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. John Bradtke on 4/2/1944. Her chosen Bible verse was John 3:16. She was married to Willmar H. Dose at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. John Bradtke on 12/19/1947.
Selma farmed for 29 years, moved to town, and retired March 1976. Together they raised twelve children, and were blessed with 24 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Selma grew up on a dairy farm, and worked alongside Willmar on their farm near Arlington. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, canning, baking, camping, traveling, fishing, search-a-word puzzles, extensive flower gardening and bird watching. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran quilters, the Polk-A Lovers Club of America, attended countless festivals, and served as the princess of the club in 1998-99. She was cared for by family, and lived in her own home through her 92nd year.
Her angel wings arrived on the morning of Sept. 19, 2022 while surrounded by family. Blessed be her memory.
