A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Nelva (Hamilton) Abrusley will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakdale with Father Vijaya Peddoju officiating.
Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Abrusley, 91, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 26, 2021 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Nelva was a loving mother, grandmother and a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was the proud owner of Abrusley's Department Store for 49 years, where she loved visiting and spending time with her customers. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with family and afternoon coffee time with friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Abrusley, Sr.; one son, John Abrusley, Jr.; one grandson, Robert David Abrusley, Jr.; her parents, Leander and Louise Hamilton; three brothers, Herbert Hamilton, Delmar Hamilton and Pete Hamilton; four sisters, Nellie Young, Neva Singleton, Charity Ford and Niece Cooley.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Bobby Abrusley and his wife, Nancy of Oakdale; one daughter, Susan Richeson and her husband, Mark of Midland, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Lavanda Abrusley of Oakdale; one sister, Naomi Rowell of Lake Charles; one sister-in-law, Joann Abrusley of Oakdale; seven grandchildren, Chris Abrusley, Robbie Abrusley, Stephanie Blyth, Honorable Judge Luke Abrusley, Leah Rustom, Sydney Richeson and Jake Richeson; sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Honored to serve as pallbearer are Chris Abrusley, Robbie Abrusley, Luke Abrusley, Mark Richeson, Joe Abrusley and Joe Rustom.
