It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved and devoted father (PaPa & Grandpa), Julien Gervais, on Monday, July 12th at the Timmins and District Hospital. Jacqueline, Michele and Roger would like to thank everyone at TDH for their wonderful care of our father and the support provided to us during his final moments. We most especially want to thank the management and staff of the LaSalle (Georgian) Residence who always provided exceptional and compassionate care during his six years there. He was considered a close friend by many of the residents and staff and really enjoyed his time there based on the many great conversations, themed events, musical entertainers and everyone being so accepting of his cheeky sense of humour. He was a very proud employee of Texas Gulf/Kidd Creek Mines for many years as a drift miner and later in the Time Office, known for his sharp memory of everyone's name and payroll number. Julien is survived by Jacqueline Harth (spouse: Hans), Michele (grandchildren: Jade and Grace Calloway) and Roger (grandchildren: Madeleine, Melanie and Jacob Prins-Gervais) and by his siblings Réal (Henriette), Normand (Denise), Cécile Labrecque (Gérard) and all of the relatives from Hamilton and England. Julien is now reunited with his siblings Aline (Victorin), Lucien (Rita), Fernand (Maribethe), Bruno (Lucille), Robert (Yvette), René (Jeaninne), Ovila (Cécile), Jeannine (Francois), André (Thérèse) and our beloved mother Rosemary Gervais (Gains). Many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren (104 to be exact) , the Gervais being a large French-Canadian family originally from Dupuy, Québec.
We will all miss that beautiful and cheerful smile, as well as his genuine and positive personality.
Funeral services will be held at St-Joseph Church, 567 Eyre Boulevard, on Saturday, July 17th at 11:00 am. With the new restrictions, the parish can only have 100 people attend the celebration. Internment at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery will follow. Remembrance donation to the Lung Association or Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S, Timmins, ON.
