Mary Camille Chappell
June 28, 1940 - January 17, 2020

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mary Agnes Camille Chappell 79, of Vancleave, MS. Surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all whose lives she touched.
Camille was born in Claiborne County, MS on June 28, 1940, to Bob and Dorothy Ross. She attended Central High School in Jackson, MS and graduated in May 1957. She went to earn an associates degree in Business Administration from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She worked as an Administrative Assistant with Singing River Power Company, for 30+ years, before retiring.
Camille married Vernon Jessie Chappell in December 1966. Vernon passed in 2004, Camille never remarried.
Camille is survived by her four living children: Bobby Russell, Jeannine Schexnayder, Maurry Malcomb, and Roberta Hunt. Her surviving siblings: Ann Heinle, Roberta Ross, Sid Ross, Sam Ross, and Frank Ross.
Camille was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Red Hat Society including Red Hat Ladies of the Lake in Vancleave, MS, and Red Hat Ladies of the Lake in Livingston, TX. She was also a member of the First Methodist Church of Gautier and the Gautier Chapter of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed road trips with her family and she lover her New Orleans Saints football team.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Vernon J. Chappell, her brother John L. Ross, and her son Clinton James Chappell.
Camille was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as "Nana". She had a vivacious personality and always made people around laugh. Camille was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for her family and friends.
She loved food and cooking, a passion which she handed down to her children and grandchildren.
Her departure reminds us that angels are watching over us.
