Lester Graham Bursey
(July 4, 1950 - June 15, 2021)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Graham Bursey announce his peaceful passing from this life on June 15 at Chancellor Park in St. John's NL.

Born in 1950 in Old Perlican NL and raised by proud veteran of the First and Second World Wars, William "War Will" Bursey and his beautiful loving wife Tryphena "Triffie" Bursey-Tilley (nee Hiscock).

Graham was proud to call several communities home during his lifetime including Stephenville NL where his son William Shawn was born, Curling NL, Terrace Bay ON where he and his family lived and where he worked for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation for over 19 years, Blackstock ON, Clarenville NL, as well as St. John's and Mount Pearl NL.

Graham spent the last 23 years of his life married to his loving best friend and devoted wife, The Rev. Karen Bursey (nee Edgar), with whom he made many wonderful memories travelling locally and abroad, volunteering in various charities, while supporting Karen in her various pastoral charges and simply enjoying life together, often with a dog or two in tow.

Shawn, Graham's son from his first marriage, was Graham's constant pride and joy and perhaps occasionally his headstrong equal in stubbornness. Shawn mourns the loss of the most caring and supportive father one could ever hope to have and holds a lifetime of memories to cherish.

Graham will be missed by many family and friends including Adelaide Tucker (the late Rev. Raymond Tucker) of Mount Pearl NL, Clyde Bursey (Fernanda) of Brampton ON and each of their families. The Edgar, Langford and Burrage families also join in mourning Graham's death. Whether he was your brother, Uncle Graham, cousin, in-law or friend, you knew that you were lucky to have someone on your side with a kind, caring heart. You also knew that if you were watching political commentary on television with him, a healthy rant would ensue... particularly American politics in recent years. Enough said.

Sincere and deepest gratitude must be extended to Dr. Kieley, to Nurse Practitioner Shaina Jacob, to Social Worker Annette Drohan and to all the staff and management of Chancellor Park for their wonderful care and support given to Graham and his family over the last few months. Thanks must also must be given to family and friends who have shown kindness and moral support in so many ways to Graham & Karen, as well as Shawn, as Graham's health declined in the last few years. These many gestures have been a real source of comfort during some truly difficult days.

Graham asked, those wishing to do so, to please donate to your local SPCA, Humane Society or animal shelter, or to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.

Karen and Shawn also kindly ask that you do what Graham himself so often quietly did: extend kindness to someone with absolutely no expectation of reward or praise. Buy a stranger a cup of coffee, surprise someone with a gift of thanks or appreciation, show love and kindness whenever, wherever you can...

As per Graham's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Columbarium, St. John's.
