Olive V. Johnson passed away Dec. 27, 2013, following a short illness. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Spokane, Wash. She was the youngest of six children born to William Peter and Anna Marie Tolle. The family moved to Orland, Calif., where Olive grew up and graduated from high school. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco where she met the love of her life, her husband, Edward F. Johnson. They were married in 1941 in Reno, Nev., and shared their lives for 56 years until Edward's death in 1997. They had two sons, Gary Edward and Steven William.

They lived in the Bay Area for a number of years then moved to the beautiful Flathead Lake region of Montana, where Ed had grown up. They returned to the Bay Area shortly before Steven was born in 1954. The family moved to Napa Valley in 1965, when Edward started his construction company, Edward F. Johnson, Custom Builder. Olive worked closely with him behind the scenes in this endeavor.

She enjoyed reading, crafting and traveling with Ed in their RV. She spoke fondly of having a wonderful group of friends who were golfing buddies and their adventures traveling together in their RVs.

Olive is survived by her son, Steven (wife Connie); daughter-in-law, JoAnne; and her grandchildren, Gary R. Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Erick Johnson, Jamie Johnson Cook, and Scott Johnson. She also leaves five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; her son, Gary; her parents; and all of her siblings.

Olive prearranged that her final needs be met through cremation with her ashes scattered at sea to join Edward's near the Marin Coast in San Francisco Bay.
