Ronald Bentsen, 88, was born June 6, 1933 in Chicago to Harry and Lillian (nee Korterud) Bentsen. He died July 2, 2021 at his home in Arlington Heights.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol (nee Boldt) Bentsen; his children Caron (John) Morrison and Ronald Eric Bentsen; his grandchildren Stephen, Michael (Kelsey), Andrew, Tyler, Lana and Tate; his great grandchildren Luna and Sadie Mae; his sister-in-law Nancy (Robert) Polston; his life-long friends Stuart (late Arlene) Bentley and Ronald (Rosemary) Betz and by many nieces and nephews.
Ronald is preceded in death by his son Richard (Alexis) Bentsen; his brother Harry (Mina) Bentsen and David (Jan and the late Lillie Ann) Bentsen.
He graduated from Taft High School where he met Carol. He graduated with a B.S. from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. He was the Co-owner of GBM Sales with his late partner and friend Jack Geiseman. Ron was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and an active member of Torske Klub. He had fond memories as a teen working summers in North Dakota, being cared for by the late Dusty Rogstad. Ron enjoyed his many years volunteering at Northwest Community Hospital and served on the Board of Norwood Park Home. He loved traveling, golfing - he made a hole-in-one, playing cards especially bridge, listening to music, baking and spending time with family.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1234 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m.. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
