Don was the son of Joseph Barnett and Elsie Gardner.
Obituary:
Donald Paul Barnett of Tabernacle, NJ, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the age of 85. Don was born August 12, 1935 in Camden, NJ and grew up alongside brothers Joe and Charlie. He is survived by his loving spouse, Florence Ann; three sons, Paul, David, and Mark; as well as eight grandchildren, Jenni, Melissa, Stevie, Paul Jr, Becky, Matthew, Mia, and Maddox. Don also held a very special place in his heart for his precious dogs, Pongo, Mason, Marley, Micah, and Samson. There was never a phone call or Facetime where he didn't ask how his "big guys" were doing.
After serving in the United States Army Honor Guard, Don spent the next 38 years as a dedicated educator who poured his heart into teaching and inspiring thousands of students. He then spent his retirement years devoting all his time and love to his family. Nothing made him happier than being with his children and grandchildren and living every day by the side of his bride, with whom he was preparing to celebrate 60 years of marriage this November.
Of all his accomplishments, Don was most proud to see his sons become godly men who then grew to be fathers who shared their faith with their children. The example he set as a loving husband, compassionate father, adored Pop-Pop, and devoted Christian will forever leave a lasting imprint in the hearts and lives of those he loved most.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday June 23, 2021 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Shawnee Baptist Church, 303 Oakshade Road, Shamong NJ 08088. Funeral service 11:00AM.
Interment with military honors will follow at Junior Mechanic's Cemetery, Tabernacle NJ.
