"Mrs. Ada Alice Burke, Kincaid Resident Many Years, Dies"
Ada Alice Burke, 76, of Kincaid died at 8:25 p.m. Monday, March 28, 1966, at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for two days. She had been in ill health for the past five years.
Mrs. Burke was born July 26, 1889 in Silverdale, England, the daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth (Salt) Manuel. She married Michael J. Burke on October 17, 1912 in Shelbyville. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1955. Mrs. Burke immigrated to the United States in 1912. She was a member of St. John the Baptist's Church in Keele, England.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Margaret) Freeman of West Allis, Wisconsin, and Ms Betty Borgognoni and Ms. Patricia Grace, both of Kincaid; six sons, John (wife, Florence) Burke and Patrick (wife, Margaret "Jimmy") Burke, both of Kincaid, Bernard (wife, Mary) Burke and Joseph William (wife, Lois) Burke, both of Farmersville, Charles (wife, Jean) Burke of Chatham and Robert (wife, Roberta) Burke of Joliet; one sister, Mrs. Thirza May Rodgerson of Kincaid; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Burke; one granddaughter, Sharon Burke; and three brothers, James Manuel, Charles Manuel and Percy Manuel.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 1966, at Masterson & McManus Funeral Home in Kincaid. Father James Hughes officiated, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee.
Pallbearers were Richard Foli, Jethro Fiaone, Louis Scanavino, Louis Broccardo, Henry Davies and James Sullivan.
