He died on April 25, 2021, in Lynnwood, Washington, at the age of 92. He graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1947. That summer, Arnold enlisted in the Army and service in Korea and Japan.
In June of 1953, Arnold received an honorable discharge from the Army and concurrently, an appointment to a Civil Service position in transportation with the U.S. Forces in Japan. Arnold served 42 consecutive years in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Germany. He retired in December 1989, in Frankfurt, Germany, and subsequently made his home in Lynnwood, Washington.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mayumi; daughters, Carol Alto (Norris Womack), Elizabeth Osborn, grandson, Lars Osborn, granddaughter, Lola Osborn, half-sister, Jean Crawford, and many nieces and nephews.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Erland and Charles (Leonard), and sister, Helen Lehto.
His body was cremated and the ashes interred in the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
