A Private in the CSA Signal Corps, he enlisted in Company A, 15th Mississippi Infantry Regiment (Long Creek Rifles), which combined with Company H, 1st Mississippi Infantry Regiment (King's State Troops).

Battles Fought: 6 April 1862 at Shiloh, Tennessee, 4 December 1862 at Water Valley, Mississippi, 18-22 July 1864 at Peach Tree Creek, Georgia, 16 August 1864 at Atlanta, Georgia, 30 November 1864 at Franklin, Tennessee.

He mustered out on 9 April 1865.
