At the age of seven, he came to Shelby County with his parents and settled on a farm in Monroe township. He lived on this same farm until he retired and moved to Harlan, November 6, 1936.
On January 6, 1910 he was united in marriage to martha Buss. To this union was born one son, who died in infancy. On May 7, 1938, Mrs Martha Alwill died very suddenly.
Mr Alwill united with the Correction Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later transferred his membership to the Bethel Baptist church at Harlan.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mrs Isabell Cephart and Mrs Tillie Buss, both of Harlan.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 23, at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. S.P. Andersen officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Doonan, David Stewart, Gaylord Doonan, Arlo Alwill, Wilfred Doonan and Clifford Boysen.
