Truman D. Ames was born September 26, 1869 at Murray, Iowa, one of seven sons of the late Mr and Mrs David D. Ames.
He came to Kirkman, Iowa with his parents when a very young man and has lived in Shelby County the rest of his life. He passed away at his home in Harlan, Iowa October 18, 1954 at the age of 85 years.
On April 6, 1898, in Walnut, Iowa he was united in marriage to Mabel Overton. They were the parents of four children, the oldest daughter, Vera May, dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mabel, one son, Clifford Ames of Denison and two daughters, Mrs Violet (Frank) Stolz of Harlan and Mrs Fern (Chester) Vinding of Concord, California, also 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother, Irv Ames of Salem, Oregon, other relatives and a host of friends.
Services were held Wednesday afternoon, October 20 at the Pauley funeral home with burial in Rose Hill cemetery at Kirkman.
