T. A. Fletcher Enjoys His 86th Birthday
T. A. Fletcher, "Uncle Tom" as he is commonly known to his friends, enjoyed his 86th birthday quietly at the family home in the First District, Sunday. Several of his children, their children and other kindred, neighbors and friends called during the day to extend congratulations and best wishes.
Mr. Fletcher is one of the few remaining pioneers of Dixie County. By birth he is a Georgian, but moved from Sumter Co., GA. to this section with his family when only two years of age locating in what is now known as the First District of Dixie County where he has made his home since that time. It is stated Mr. Fletcher has lived in three counties since locating here-Madison, Lafayette, and Dixie, but has never moved off the land on which his father (Rev. John Almarine Fletcher) settled more than 80 years ago.
On December 20, 1877, Mr. Fletcher was married to Miss Sarah Dallas Delaney, a member of another pioneer Dixie County family, and she enjoyed the occasion of his 86th mile stone at his side.
Other than impaired vision, Mr. Tom Fletcher is enjoying excellent health and his friends wish for him many more such happy occasions as that of Sunday.
Mr. Fletcher also has the distinction of being the first Representative in the State Legislature from Dixie County.
