S.A.O. ABBOTT'S DEATH.
Sydney Arthur Oswald Abbott, about 42 years of age, was found dead in a shed on his farm at Ladysmith early yesterday morning. Abbott was not married. In addition to himself, the residence on his farm, of about 80 acres, was occupied by a family named Simmons.

At about 4 o'clock yesterday morning members of the Simmons family heard Abbott moving about the house, but attached no significance to this fact, thinking that he intended attending to the cows.

At breakfast time, however, Abbott did not appear and a search was made for him. Eventually his body was found by Mr. S. Simmons. The police were informed and, after visiting the farm yesterday, they reported the death to the coroner, who will hold an inquest on Saturday.

Mr. Abbott, or 'Arty,' as he was popularly known, was a man of quiet habits and was well liked in the district in which he resided, where he was regarded as a good neighbour. No reason is known why Mr. Abbott should take his own life.
