LOCAL AND GENERAL NEWS.
A few days since, at her residence, Abbottsford, Tarcutta, Mrs Abbott, widow of the late Frederick Abbott, passed away in her eighty-sixth year. She had long been an invalid, but only two days seriously ill. She sank on the anniversary of her late husband's death — surviving him two years —in the presence of all her own and some of her grand children.

Deceased was interred beside her husband in the little cemetery attached to their home. There was a large gathering of friends and neighbours to pay their last tribute of respect to one so highly esteemed. What was said of her husband may well be said of her: she was a good friend and neighbour, and her memory will be held in loving remembrance by all who knew her. The Rev Alexander M'Clinchie conducted the funeral service.

"One by one the heavy laden
Sink beneath the noontide sun,
And the aged pilgrim welcomes
Evening shadows as they come.
One by one with sins forgiven
May we stand upon the shore,
Waiting till the Blessed Spirit
Takes our hand and guides as O'er."
