Cheryl A. Cross was born in Niagara Falls, New York on February 18, 1945 to James and Pauline Brown. During her formative years, Cheryl was an avid ballet and tap dancer, equestrienne, swimmer, canoeist, camper and hiker.
She was an active member of Girls Clubs of America and recently received an honorary certificate from the National Girls Club of America Organization. Cheryl graduated from Niagara Falls High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central State University. Cheryl earned a Masters of Art Education Degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio and taught art at a junior high school in that city.
Cheryl married and moved to Bucks County, PA where she taught art at Pennsbury High School. She later became head of the Pennsbury School District Art Department. Health problems forced her into early retirement.
In spite of her condition, Cheryl drove hr own van and traveled extensively. Cheryl attended weekly practice sessions at the St. Matthew United Methodist Church and sang in the Crown and Glory Gospel Choir and the Mass Choir.
Cheryl continued her art and other creative activity projects that included jewelry making and the fashioning of unusual boxes. She was a member of The Links Inc., Bucks County Chapter, in which she served as the Historian and, for many years, in the capacity of Chairperson of the Arts facet committee. Additionally, Cheryl was a charter member of the Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Bucks County Chapter, and she served in various positions, such as Historian and Chairperson of the Education Committee. Although she was unable to ski, she was a member of the Blazers Ski Club of Philadelphia. Cheryl traveled with the club as often as her health permitted.
Cheryl is survived by two daughters, Michelle and Renee Cross; three grandchildren, Matthew, Barbara, and Jordan; two sisters, Joan Brown of Buffalo, New York and Vicki Brown of Fairfax, VA, and a host of relatives and friends.
Cheryls determination and strength have been an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed.
