James Thornton Eiler, 72, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from natural causes. He was born on November 13, 1948 in New Albany to Ernest and Ann Thornton Eiler.

Jamie was a decent, caring, compassionate, enthusiastic, generous and dedicated man. His devotion to people, his work and hobbies that he loved, was ever off the charts. He loved working with people as a musician, singer and actor. He belonged to the following groups: Tale Talk and the Corn Island Storytelling Festival, Stories Behind the Stones, Locust Grove First Person Reenactors and Six Guns Entertainment. He served as a paralegal in a law office for 25 years and was also a life-long member of the Kiwanis Club.

Jamie is survived by his mother – Ann Thornton Eiler; brothers – Terry Eiler (Lyntha) and Joe Eiler (Deb); partner of 31 years – Janice Sidebottom; son Scott Eiler (Suzanne); step-daughter – Angela Lawhorn; step-son – Johnathon Sidebottom; grandchildren – Alex Snider, Lucian Eiler, Mercedes Eiler, Misti Sidebottom, William Sidebottom and Chris Lawhorn.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest.

Visitation will take place at the Market Street location of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes on Saturday, May 8, 2pm – 8 pm and Sunday, May 9, 2pm – 7pm. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 10.
