The Des Moines Register. Des Moines, Iowa. 2 Oct. 2003, Thu. - Iva M. French, 103, a resident of Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa since 1990, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Mrs. French was born in Girard, Illinois to Harry B. And Cordia Sipling. She lived in Dallas Center, Fernold and Maxwell and later in the Highland Park area of Des Moines for 35 years. She retired from Still Osteopathic College Clinic in 1965. In Des Moines, she was a member of the Senior Singers and the Stover Memorial Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed singing, crocheting, her family and all children, teaching Sunday School for 50 years;
Survivors include one son, Larry (Kathy) French of Maxwell; one daughter, Lois (Wally) Olsan of West Des Moines; two sisters, Ina Picht of Nevada and Esther (Ed) Amend of Urbandale; one granddaughter, Maribeth (Jim) Polard of Des Moines; and two great-grandchildren, David Evans and Laura (Jason) Mahn. Her parents; husband, Russell; three sisters; one brother; and one granddaughter, Barbara French Evans preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m.Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Interment will be in the Maxwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
