Obituary for Mary Ellen Payne Chapman
Mary Ellen Chapman, age 78, of Rossville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. She was born to the late William Morgan and Lillie Mae Attaway Payne in Chattanooga, lived most of her life in the North Georgia area and attended New Beginning Baptist Church. Mary Ellen enjoyed being outdoors, gardening or fishing, spending time with her family, cooking, and studying her bible. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. Mary Ellen was also preceded in death by her loving husband, of 61 years, Frank G. Chapman and siblings, Bill Payne, Jim Payne, Ted Payne, Jerry Payne, Terry Payne and Joyce Allen. She is survived by her loving children, Mary Cope, Lloyd (Vickie) Chapman, Mitchell (Lisa) Chapman and Michael Chapman, beloved sister-in law, Florence "Bug" Hester grandchildren, Terry Ray, Austin, Morgan, Ashley, Zack, Gracie, Brandon, Mikey, Chris, Cole; 16 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 30, 2021 in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Harold Helton officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.
