Arthur Hjalmar Sasse was the son of Frederick H. Sasse (1866- ) and Hilma C. Nunn (1864-1941), the spouse of Edith C. Cromwell (1910-1992), and the father of Dorothy Edith Sasse (1933-1989). He was a press photographer from at least 1917-1918 when, according to his WWI Draft Registration Card, he worked for Bronx Home News. His WW II Draft Card, signed in 1942, shows his employer as International News Photo. He is best known for his 1951 photograph of Albert Einstein sticking his tongue out.
