Kenneth "Wayne" Harter, 66, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 12, 2020, at Brian Center in Eden.

A native of Rockingham County, NC, Wayne was born at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden on July 24, 1953, to the late Kenneth and Anne Hutson Harter. He attended the former Eden City Schools and was a graduate of Morehead High School. He was a member of Draper Christian Church.

During his law enforcement days, he was a former deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, a patrol officer and dispatcher with the Reidsville Police Department, and an intensive probation officer with the North Carolina Department of Adult Probation and Parole.

Living out his dream, he moved to Orlando, Florida, where he retired from Florida Auto Auctions.

He returned to Eden shortly before he passed away.
