She was preceded in death by her 9 siblings, her husband, Jack Burkart and grandchildren, Joshua Burkhart ( FG# 47273372) and Ellie Smith.
Norna was born in Bakersfield on July 16, 1936 to parents Herb and Florence Morris. She was the youngest of her 9 siblings. In 1955, she married Jack Burkhart with whom she had her four children. They were married for 39 years until his untimely passing in 1994.
Norna was baptized in 1961. Aside from her faith, Norna's family was her greatest love. She loved them fiercely and loyally. Her family didn't consist of the traditional blood lines. She didn't care if you were faulted and ugly, if you were her "family", you were the most beautiful person she had ever encountered and she made you feel that way too. You were special to her and you were special because of her.
She loved frilly, lovely, feminine things. She loved color and fashion and rearranging her furniture and repainting her walls at maddening paces. She wore colorful nylons that matched her dresses and earrings that matched her nylons and she was never old. She was fun and spirited and full of life until the very end. She loved a good pile of candy too and wouldn't mind feeding your toddlers candy on a Tuesday night right before bedtime. She only broke the little rules that made life more fun. She was everyone's grandma and mom and friend. The world will be a bit dull without her laugh and her vibrance and her arms full of love.
A graveside service will be held in Bakersfield on Friday, April 2, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd. Pallbearers will be Dustin Burkhart, Tosh Burkhart, Easton Burkhart, Zayne Wilkerson, Tristen Smith, Kyle Wilkerson and honorary pallbearer, Alvin Bowser
