John Deans, age 70, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Mr. Deans, son of Jonathan and Myrtle (Twitty) Deans, was born on May 10, 1950, in Gateway, Arkansas. He was a 1968 Southwest R-5 High School graduate and subsequently enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly. On March 17, 1969, he was united in marriage to Donna Thompson in Seligman. John worked for Emerson Electric in Rogers, Arkansas, and later went on to work for NorthWest Arkansas Community College for sixteen years as a lab supervisor.

John enjoyed hiking and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. One of his favorite pastimes was genealogy; he would spend hours on the computer searching his family's ancestry and backgrounds. John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washburn where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a dear friend to so many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Deans, of Seligman; his son, John "Sid" Deans and his wife Krista, Bella Vista, Arkansas; two step-granddaughters, Melanie Chandler, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Vanessa Chandler-Van Riper and her husband Tim, of West Fork, Arkansas; four step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Maddi, George, and Persie; two sisters, Mary Mason, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Wanda Anderson, of Monett; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Susan Deans; one grandson, Cody W. Deans; and one brother, Henry Deans.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Seligman City Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Erwin officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Integrity Hospice and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
