John enjoyed hiking and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. One of his favorite pastimes was genealogy; he would spend hours on the computer searching his family's ancestry and backgrounds. John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washburn where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a dear friend to so many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Deans, of Seligman; his son, John "Sid" Deans and his wife Krista, Bella Vista, Arkansas; two step-granddaughters, Melanie Chandler, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Vanessa Chandler-Van Riper and her husband Tim, of West Fork, Arkansas; four step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Maddi, George, and Persie; two sisters, Mary Mason, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Wanda Anderson, of Monett; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Susan Deans; one grandson, Cody W. Deans; and one brother, Henry Deans.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Seligman City Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Erwin officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the cemetery.
