Life Goes On
With the wind, comes many changes and with it sweeps many
fears. The thought of losing a loved one, whom you've
cherished so many years.

The choice is not for us to make...for the Lord is the
one who chooses to take. He takes them not as to punish
us, but to bring them comfort, who lived in his trust.

When they're gone it's only natural to cry, but then
don't just stand there and let life pass you by.

Their love will stay with you as long as you live. But
your life must go on, you've so much to give.

Just because the one you love, has gone away on the wings
of a dove...don't give up and wilt away, your family is
with you each step of the way.

He was a quiet man and never talked about his childhood. We would spend an evening at home and never talk. Mom told me he must have got this from the gene pool because his mother was that way. I did however become an expert in grunts and could tell the way he grunted how he felt. It sounds boring but it was very relaxing and since it had been that way all my life I enjoyed it. It amazed me when we went to visit someone that Daddy would talk to them. I remember at a family reunion he and his brothers and sisters laughing about a fight they had over a hairbrush. They must have been pitching it from one to another in the living room when someone missed it went through grandma's window. I don't know what happened then but they did go on about how mad she was.
I remember only one other story about Daddy and his brother Gene. They were out in the woods playing and found a hornet's nest. Somehow they stirred the hornets up and had to run to the creek to get away from them. I'm not sure how far it was but Daddy talked as if it was quite a way and they just made it in time.
His family loved to play the guitar and sing. Guy, Grandville, Opal and Daddy preformed as a quartet in town at the movie theatre and on a local radio station in Shawnee. I never heard them but am told they were good. My dad had a voice most people would kill for. He won first place in a local contest and Wiley & Jean (local radio personalities) wanted him to perform on their show. They talked about the possibility of him doing some recording. Daddy never took them up on their offers I'm not aware why. He loved to garden and play with his grandchildren. He left us to soon.
