Donald R. DeMarco Niskayuna Donald R. DeMarco, 80, of Nott Street, died peacefully on Sunday, December 30th, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY, on April 17, 1932. Beloved husband of Irma Tiberio DeMarco for 56 years, and son of the late Ralph and Carmella DeMarco. Donald was a 1950 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Following graduation from Albany Business School, he joined the family-run business, Pine Grove Dairy. He transitioned to 35 years of dedicated service at General Electric Company, and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. He was a communicant of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church (St. Helens, Union Street). Donald especially enjoyed his family and friends, bowling, golfing, and many other activities. He looked forward to his weekly breakfast meeting at the Blue Ribbon Diner, joined by his lifelong classmates to discuss events and their mutual admiration for the New York Yankees. Donald is survived by sisters, Evelyn (the late Bernard) Tessier, Frances (Rodney) Holmstrom, and Carolyn DeMarco, all of Niskayuna; brother-in-law of Frank and Ada Salamone (Vero Beach); sister-in-law, Joyce (the late Phillip) Tiberio (Scotia); predeceased by sister-in-law, Lena and Donald Kaba. Uncle Don was committed to a special grandfather-like relationship with Michael Francis (NC), and Mary Sawler (MA). Devoted uncle to David Tessier, Mark Tessier, Dr. Jeffrey Holmstrom, Keith Holmstrom, Beth Ann DeArias, Thomas Salamone, Mary Jane Tyler, Frank Salamone Jr., Phillip Tiberio, Paul Tiberio, Christopher Tiberio, Susan Herrington, Donnalee Kaba Dodson; and 23 great-nieces and nephews, as well as several other family members. Funeral services will begin 8:15 a.m. Thursday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish (formerly St. Helen's Church). Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m., at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don's memory, to St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1803 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12309 or Ellis Hospital, 1101 Nott St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
