William Arthur (Art) Lowers Sr., 81, of Parkersburg passed away Feb. 5, 2006, at Sunbridge Health Care Center.
He was born March 13, 1924, in Wood County, a son of the late Okey Johnson and Icie Mae Nichols Lowers. Art was a member of the Army Air Force having served during World War II. He retired from Borg-Warner Chemicals in 1982 after many years of service. He enjoyed model airplanes, computers and playing music.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, leaving behind two sons, William "Bill" Lowers Jr. and his wife, Jenny, and Robert "Rob" Lowers, all of Parkersburg; granddaughters, Theresa Lester and husband, Greg, and Angie Kiggans and husband, Scott, all of Parkersburg; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Marie Lester of Parkersburg; brothers, Herschel, Paul and Clyde Lowers; sisters, Wilma Henthorn and Roxie Hudson; several nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Lowers; his second wife, Sharon Nunn Lowers; his third wife, Velcie "June" Caplinger Lowers; a brother, Virgil Lowers; and a daughter-in-law, Kay Lowers.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Ken Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
